BASIC ANATOMICAL EXERCISES

In our FREE STYLE SESSIONS, we normally do 3, 5 and 10 MINUTE POSES.

My favourite posing routine is when the model holds in the same position 3 MINUTES. These short poses are an excellent ANATOMICAL EXERCISE to capture the organic shape of the body through a CONFIDENT LINE.


I always draw these quick sketches in a small format (DinA5, DinA4). It helps to see the entire figure inside the limits of the paper. It´s a good COMPOSITION EXERCISE.

When I finish a 3 minute posing routine, I always spend some minutes to add some finishing touches to my drawings. It helps to visualize the coloured line when I take a photo or I scan it.


As it´s a fast sketch exercise, I never use eraser. I think it´s important to enhance your confidence. A sketchbook must be a place where we can feel confortable with our own mistakes.
Them can very useful to understand how to develop your OBSERVATIONAL SKILLS.
